About My Practice
I have been in private practice for over 20 years and have seen over 2000 people, as individuals, couples and/or families for a very broad range of issues.
I view my job as guiding people to make change by finding their own unique path to lasting health and wholeness. I am offering a free 30 minute phone consultation to all perspective clients. It is important that we decide if I can meet your needs. If I am not able to help you, I will refer you on to someone who does good work in dealing with your specific needs.
What is unique about my practice is that I have advanced training in a process called E.M.D.R*. This effective tool often shortens the duration of therapy by quickly resolving hurtful memories and then installing positive corrections to our self defeating beliefs and behaviors. It is effective in treating, anxiety, depression, addictions and PTSD.* Using EMDR, I am willing to treat people with on going addiction problems as long as we continue to achieve positive results.
I think I am particularly effective in helping couples make lasting positive changes. I also think I have insight for people experiencing the confusions of midlife. This major life transition is not well understood.
In addition to being a counselor and psychotherapist, I am now serving my clientele, via telephone, as a coach. I want to help clients sustain the progress made in therapy by offering coaching across their lifespan.
What is the difference between counseling, psychotherapy and coaching?
COUNSELING is more information oriented and is geared to help the client understand what they want and need. (What do I want?)
PSYCHOTHERAPY is involved with looking deeper in order to help clients free themselves from negative self-defeating inner beliefs. (Why do I repeat the same mistakes?)
COACHING is goal achievement oriented work to help the client make lasting change. I offer post therapy support via telephone, for those clients who need a “tune up” to refocus on their path to health and wholeness. (How can I stay on my path to lasting health and wholeness?)
